Privacy Policy

Outlier is an ADHD companion app operated by Helpful Humans Studio LLC (“we,” “us,” “Helpful Humans Studio”), based in New Jersey, USA. This policy explains what information we collect when you use Outlier (the mobile app and outlieradhd.com), why we collect it, who we share it with, and the choices you have — including deleting your account and data at any time.

Outlier is a self-help and organizational tool, not a medical device or a substitute for professional diagnosis, therapy, or treatment. Please see our Terms of Service for more on this.

Account information: your email address, and your name if you sign in with Apple and choose to share it or enter one yourself. If you sign in with Apple, we receive only what Apple provides based on your chosen sharing settings.

Profile information: a display name and, optionally, a profile photo you choose from your photo library.

Content you create: tasks, projects, habits, journal entries (“Thoughts”), and free-text messages you send to Outlier’s AI coach.

Mood, emotion, and body-sensation logs: entries you make in tools like the Emotion-Needs Tree, Body Heatmap, and daily check-ins — including which feelings or sensations you select or write in, their intensity, and any notes you add. This is sensitive personal information you choose to share with yourself through the app; we treat it with particular care (see “How we protect your information” below).

Voice recordings: if you use tap-to-talk dictation, your audio is sent to our transcription provider to convert it to text and is not stored as audio after transcription completes.

Social information: if you use Outlier’s friend features, we store your friend connections and the activity you choose to share with friends.

Device and usage information: a push-notification token (if you enable notifications) and basic activity data (e.g. which features you use and when) needed to make the app work — such as scheduling reminders and building your weekly summaries.

• To provide Outlier’s core features — your planner, habits, mood tools, and AI coach.
• To generate personalized content, like your Week 1 Gameplan, weekly summaries, and coaching suggestions, using AI models processing your own data on your behalf.
• To send you reminders and notifications you’ve enabled.
• To support the friend/social features you choose to use.
• To maintain the security and reliability of the app.
• To improve Outlier over time.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not use your content to train third-party AI models.

We use a small number of service providers to operate Outlier. They process your information only to provide their service to us:

• Supabase — our database, authentication, and file storage provider.
• OpenAI and Anthropic — process the text (and, for voice dictation, audio) you send to Outlier’s AI features in order to generate responses.
• Resend — delivers account-related emails (e.g. sign-in links).
• Apple and Expo — deliver push notifications and, if you use it, Sign in with Apple.

We do not share your information with advertisers or data brokers.

Your data is encrypted in transit and at rest. Access to production data is limited to what’s needed to operate the app. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, so we can’t guarantee absolute security, but we work to protect your information using industry-standard practices.

You can, at any time:

• Edit or delete individual entries (tasks, journal entries, mood logs, etc.) from within the app.
• Turn off push notifications in your device settings.
• Delete your account from Settings → Delete Account. This permanently deletes your profile and the content associated with it. Some information may be retained briefly in backups or where we’re required to keep it for legal or security reasons.
• Contact us (below) to request a copy of your data or ask us to delete it on your behalf.

Outlier is not directed at children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us with personal information, please contact us and we will delete it.

If we make material changes to this policy, we’ll update the “last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify you in the app.
